What a difference a day makes!

Tuesday morning I grabbed one of these bundles of fabrics...

And by Wednesday afternoon, we had this finished quilt hanging in the shop!

It's the "French Riviera" Turning Twenty kit.

Did I ever tell you that I lived in France for a year, on the Riviera no less?

True story.

Shawna and I picked these fabrics out together quite a little while ago, but we had never made them up into a quilt top.

Then yesterday I found myself needing something fast and easy to get my mojo back.

This did the trick.

Instant gratification is soooo underrated!

Flea Market Fancy

It has arrived!

I'm so in love... and I have to confess I missed out on these the first time around.

No one was more pleased than I when Free Spirit decided to do a reprint.

We are still missing one of the prints (Posie in Turquoise), but I'm sure it will be along soon enough.

In the meantime, enjoy what we do have!

Rhea

March SEAM meeting is this weekend

Hello everyone:

Can you believe that the second SEAM meeting is right around the corner? Join us this Saturday afternoon at Fiddlehead Artisan Supply in Belfast at 2:00 for an afternoon full of crafting, fellow fabric enthusiasts, food and fun!

We’ll celebrate the spring equinox by crafting flowers from fabric, felt, and paper. Feel free to bring another handwork project you're working on as well. Light refreshments will be provided and a good time is sure to be had. Grab a friend or two and head on over to the heart of beautiful downtown Belfast. Fiddlehead Artisan Supply is located at 159 High Street between the Colonial Theater and Darby’s Restaurant, with plenty of other shops and restaurants nearby.

Like all SEAM meetings, anyone interested in fabric or sewing is welcome to attend this free event. Come craft with us!

For anyone who can't make the meeting but wants to learn more about SEAM, head on over to our website and then be sure to "like" us on facebook. You'll get all the latest information, and see pictures of the meetings.

Now, who wants to carpool with me?

Rhea

Doing the syrup thang...

Much to my delight Ollie has taken a shine to maple-syruping.

I like coming home at night to a house that smells like a cookie.

We have one sugar maple in our backyard and now our neighbors up the street have offered up the one sugar maple in their yard, bringing our grand total of trees we tap to... two.

Two is also the number of jars of syrup we get to keep after we've shared with our friends and neighbors.

But manashevitz, that syrup tastes so good.

And it's fun to make your own syrup.

'Specially when your husband is making it and all you have to do is taste test ;-)

Extreme Makeover!

If you've been to our website lately you may have noticed there are some ch-ch-changes around the neighborhood!

We've gotten a new background.

We loved our old magenta background, but it's tricky to put swatches of fabrics against a magenta background and not have your eyes play tricks on you.

We needed something a bit more neutral, so we went with our favorite, most beloved linen, but we kept some "touches" of the old colors here and there!

And we now have our long-arm quilting service available online (I'll give this the full-blown blog-post it deserves in the next few days).

These are just the first few days of the new website and we ares still tweaking things: if you see anything "untowards," please do let me know!

Otherwise, we are working on uploading thread colors and quilting designs for those of you who'd like to send us your quilt tops to be quilted on our long-arm machine.

Exciting things are happening here: hope you like the changes, too!

Rhea

Hot tips for you

I have been a boring blogger lately and I'm having Catholic guilt about it.

To make up for it, I have some hot tips for you.

Photo shamelessly stolen from Kyra Alex.

Have you checked out this new Lily's House blog?

I think Kyra got all my blogging mojo and now I have none.

Not fair, Kyra.

And hot tip upon hot tip: Kyra has written not one, but two cookbooks that have changed my life.

So easy. So simple. So delicious.

Run, don't walk, and get yourself a copy of each.

Or at the very least you can avail yourself of all the free recipes she posts on her blog.

Plus she discusses antiquing, gardening, selection of paint colors, sewing (you should behold this gal's stash) and more things that I am sure you will find fascinating.

I know I do.

Get to it!

Want to take a walk?

The latest and greatest from Aneela Hoey has arrived: it's called "A Walk in the Woods."

This is one of those collections that I was waiting and waiting and waiting for, and we would check in every day to see when it was arriving.

Now that I see it in person, I like it even more.

See you again soon!

Rhea

Just because...

Why is it that men seem to get better looking with age?

Stick with me here...

My friends and I, in our continuing quest to re-live our early 20's, went to see Jane's Addiction at the State Theater last night.

Now, maybe I had had one too many mojitos beforehand, but Dave Navarro looks exactly the same as he did when I last saw Jane's at Lollapalooza in 2003.

And Perry Farrell looks even younger than he did 9 years ago.

The crowd (and I wholeheartedly include myself in this collective) looked a lot older than it did in 2003.

How is this possible?

(Must be some rock 'n roller, plastic surgery loophole, right?)

But...

Even though the "habitual" Jane's fan may have aged ever-so-slightly, we still got it!

Yes, I'm talking to you, man-who-dressed-like-a-pirate.

Good times.

Arg.

Snow day

I love a WTSD.

A "Well-Timed Snow Day."

The store will be closed today so we can hunker down.

I've got big plans to spend time putting the last little bits away in my newly spruced up sewing room (I'll show you pictures soon), some hand-applique in front of the fire, some cooking and baking (got all stocked up yesterday) and last but not least, some chess with Ollie tonight.

But first: gotta get this place in ship shape. A little cleaning is in order.

Don't you love it when you're actually in the mood to clean up?

And you actually have the time to do it?

Like I said, I love me a well-timed snow day.

XO,

Rhea
