I have to admit that I have been totally enthralled (okay, obsessed is more like it) with seeing the photos of Amanda's new home...
It inspired me to take a few shots of my own house as well, so would you like to have a peek with me?
Here we go...
Here are some vintage tins I got at the Montsweag flea market this weekend.
They looked much better before I put them in the dishwasher and melted most of the paint off the lids, but I still love 'em and they only cost 12 bucks for all 5, so what're ya gonna do, huh?
These little birdies and their nest were shower gifts.
I think they would make a great wedding cake topper... a little nod to the family we hope to one day have.
They are sitting atop an old wooden recipe box that belonged to Ollie's mom.
Some of my bowls... some are old, some are new, but I can honestly say that they were chosen very carefully and I love each and every one of them.
(Is it normal to love your bowls?)
The Flea Market Gods were with me the day I scored this bookcase at Montsweag for 20 bucks... it was just what the living room needed and I didn't even know!
These are some of my vintage tins... most of them were sent to me by my Vintage Swap partner Kay.
I have them on top of a mirror in my bathroom but I hope to someday get some shelves in the kitchen and keep them there.
Most of these are food related tins and it seems kinda weird to keep them in the bathroom, don't you think?
By the way, everybody should have a Vintage Swap partner from the Netherlands.
They should make it mandatory.
I really think that would make the world a better place.
Just sayin'.
I have a thing for birds, can you tell?
These birds were a wedding gift from my friend Barbara... I knew exactly where to put them!
Ollie is always bumping his head on this lantern (he is a tall drink-a-water) but dammit, I think it is fabulous.
Plus it was only 3 bucks.
At Marden's.
There, I said it (*breaks down in tears*).
This is a quilt I am working on for the wedding: it's super-piece-y and complicated and I love it... I love working on it the same way I love being in the middle of a really good book.
In lieu of a guest book I am going to have people sign the little white rectangles of the quilt blocks.
All of these fabrics came from my good friend Cyndi's shop, the Busy Thimble.
She carries all reproduction fabrics (as opposed to this place) and I go to her shop when I want to cheat on my shop.
This would be my sewing machine.
It was my great-grandmother's and I love it dearly.
Right now I am working on a shirt for my little sister Johanna.
Here are our birds, Rosie and Mr. Allnut (named after Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart's characters from the movie "the African Queen").
If you have ever called and talked to me on the phone you have probably heard them squawking away in the background.
Here's a shady looking character.
This is my candelabra that Mom got me for Christmas a couple of years back... I love it.
I love lighting it and using it, except that I have to move it away from the wall or else it leaves scorch marks.
My closet (well, part of it, anyways)... note the handmade clothes: there's a lot of selfish sewing in that closet.
And I thought I would end by putting a picture of my un-made bed up on the internet for all to see.
Just keepin' it real, you know???
Thanks for peeking around my house with me...
What does your space look like?
XO,
Rhea

Thanks for the tour! I especially like your collection of tins!
Thanks for the tour of your sweet house! I have to chime in because I LOVE my bowls too. Oh how I love them. My Pyrex most of all... :)
Thanks for the tour! Love that red and white rooster bowl! I was tempted to buy some vintage pyrex bowls a few months ago, but I restrained myself because I didn't "need" them. But I still sort of regret it. I really need to go to that Montsweag flea market one of these days. And your puppy is adorable. S/he looks so soft and cuddly.
gotta say, i can't stop checking in at amanda's...I love my bowls :) and i thought i stopped all catalogs from coming to my home, but crate & barrel just sent their latest and I'm in LOVE with the brunswich soup & sandwich stoneware...here's hoping it passes...
thanks for the tour!
oh, & btw, does anyone else get funny words in the word verification? mine's similar to el burito?
Nice tour, the last photo is my fav, LOVE seeing us quilters live with our quilts...my husband and I are always under a min of 1 of mine, oft times 2, like tonight...& my kids, 7 of them, usually at least 4 of the 7 are sleeping under one or two. I have met and are friends w/so many fabric hoarders who rarely sleep under a quilt. Boggles my mind. My husband says that each stitch shows my love. Maybe that's why we have 7 kids? Ha! I just thought that up! Loving your blog and the Amy Butler collection I ordered from you last month. ~anna in md, right near my birthplace of Wash, DC
is so nice to see your home , that helps with the next parcel..
I will call you very soon
Very inspiring tour of your home. Got me thinking about posting inspiring things in my studio. We walk by so many things in our lives that seem ordinary and do not realize how special they are when you look at them in a different way. Thanks for putting up the birds. They were so fun to make for you!
